SAM Advisory, LLC is a consulting firm that supports fund management and advisory firms during their growth phase when resources are often highly scarce and costly. This firm was launched in May 2005 by Ms. Sanem Alkan, who has been instrumental to the growth of several investment firms since 2001 by advising their portfolio managers on important business projects that they generally do not have time for or experience in as they build their investment firms.

SAM Advisory, LLC acts as a direct extension of the portfolio and business management teams, supporting them in a wide range of projects, such as:

Since its inception, SAM Advisory has advised the following firms:

Japan Advisory, Ltd. - SAM Advisory helped manage various firm-wide projects of this 6-year old group based in Tokyo between October 2002 and August 2006. Japan Advisory makes investment recommendations to a number of hedge fund and private equity platforms in Asia, the largest of which is a Japan-focused hedge fund platform with combined assets of $2.5 billion managed by J.H. Whitney Investment Management Co.

UMJ Singapore Pte Ltd. - SAM Advisory worked closely with UMJ management during the launch of six single-strategy hedge funds (focused primarily on Japanese equities) between June and December 2005, and helped manage all investor related activities until June 2007. All advisors had prior multi-year track records investing in the same strategies prior to joining these UMJ funds. This platform started managing assets of about $500mm within the first six months of its inception.

GeoSphere Capital Management, LLC - SAM Advisory partnered with a former SAC Capital team, helping them manage all investor-related projects between April and September 2007, as this team launched their first hedge fund. The new global long-short equity fund focuses primarily on natural resources and industrial companies. It was launched on July 1st and soft-closed.

Optima Capital Pte Ltd. - SAM Advisory provided advice to this private investment platform launched in 2006 by a group of experienced professionals with a track record in private and real estate investments in Asia, specifically Japan.

Pike Capital LLC - SAM Advisory worked with this group in 2005 and advised on general business administration issues during their growth phase. This is a private firm that oversees approximately $150mm in long-only investments in the U.S.
